Pre-Retirement Workshop (How to Effectively Manage Life After Service)

Many employees do not realize that planning for retirement should commence right from the first day of assuming the duty.  Consequently, by the time they recognize the importance of adequate preparation for such eventuality, it may be too late and they might just be out of gainful employment already. Organizational career management system exists to develop programmes that match the skills of individual employees with the demands of Human Resources Staffing and Training from the point of recruitment to retirement. The working career of personnel may be defined by a continuum of entry and exit or recruitment and retirement. Disengagement like other forms of severance from work may be organizational or individual, voluntary or involuntary, early or at full completion of the retirement age in the company’s employment contract.

The transition from full-time employment to retirement can pose many social, domestic and financial problems for those affected. Unless these are recognized and approached positively, the prospects of an active and happy retirement soon begin to fade.

This workshop, therefore, is designed to adequately equip and prepare employees to appreciate that retirement is one of the changes and challenges that is inevitable in working life and to prepare them psychologically to face the imminent challenge.

The course shows that retiring from corporate employment needs not become a calamity. It also introduces participants to post-retirement Entrepreneurship, and they are taken through an orientation of “entrepreneurial personality” which, rather than being affected by a propensity for risk taking, will, among other things, focus success on one thing – “opportunity focused.”  They will learn several entrepreneurial logic and make them to dig deep into ideas underlying a product or service they may think of producing, prepare the ideas, get started, and keep it going with commitment.
